Top tips and ideas for an efficient and effective Area Council (generated at Nagaloka, 2025):
- meet often to maintain momentum in your AC
- meet in person at least once a year
- AC Convenor stay in regular contact with the IC Convenor
- let the IC Convenor know when AC meetings are taking place and occasionally invite him/her to attend
- inform the IC Convenor/IC Steering Group of any important agenda items or news from your Area
- invite guests to AC meetings to stimulate and inform discussions
- consider producing an AC newsletter which could be posted on the IC website
- induct new members – help them get up to speed on ongoing issues/processes, be welcoming
Other things to consider:
- how do new Oms in your Area hear about the AC?
- how do you ensure you’re selecting the right people for the AC?
- have you thought about co-opting Mitra Convenors onto your AC?
- would it be helpful to organise larger (more inclusive) 3-Strand meetings in your Area?
